Tempeh Bacon

An easy tempeh bacon for Tempeh BLTS or recipes like my Tempeh Bacon & Potato Goulash.
Ingredients
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- 1 tsp Liquid Smoke
- 1/2 tsp Ground black pepper
- 1 container (7.5 oz ea.), Tempeh
- 3 tablespoon Reduced Sodium Soy Sauce
- 1 tablespoon Pure Maple Syrup
- 1/2 tsp, Smoked Paprika
- ½ tbsp oil (sesame or avocado)
- 3 tablespoons of water
- 1 tablespoon mirin
- Remove your tempeh from its packaging and boil in water for 15 minutes to remove the bitter flavor. Let cool.
- Slice the Tempeh into 12-18 strips.
- Mix all the ingredients except the tempher in a shallow container. Once thoroughly mixed, add your tempeh. And mix to coat. Let marinate overnight in the fridge, or for at least 3 hours.
- The next day, preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
- Lay your tempeh out on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes.
- Flip the tempeh over and brush with any remaining marinade, then bake for another 8-10 minutes
